Try Rustoleum, I don’t know if it is available in the UK. You can probably mail order it from somewhere in the US.

gardencentres answers:
You know how holiday decorations go on sale right after the holiday?
Same with seasonal items like patio furniture.
Best to buy it at the end of the outdoor season, which varies depending on where you live.
Also, moving sales—Many people relocate at the end of the school year and cut back on moving costs by selling lots of nice things at bargain prices.
If you haven’t, check to see if your community has a “Freecycle” Yahoo group.
These are places where folks give away items to other folks who want them…you’d be amazed…
We’ve bought many items from an online company with $2.95 shipping no matter the size or weight of the item.
Recently bought a wonderful couch for around $500. That retailed for $1,500 and it was delivered in less than two weeks for under $3.00 shipping.
Google in Overstock to find the best kept secret in shopping…
Hope it’s not unlawful to tell you this here?
We certainly don’t work for the company and they haven’t gone public with stock options yet~.
Remember to have a great summer no matter what’s on the patio.
After all, you’ll be the best reason to be there anyway, right? You betcha!

How to determine what size patio furniture to use?
I’m finishing up a small patio but I want to know if there’s a general rule or some sort of online calculator which will help me determine what size patio furniture to put in this space. It’s a 7 1/2″ by 7″ space – but I want to know ALL of my options

I found this site, it might help at least give an idea. It sounds like you want to at least give yourself 2-3 feet between the patio furniture and any other obstruction. (Plus I found some really nice patio furniture on this site!)

How do I stop birds from eating the stuffing out of my new patio furniture?
I recently bought patio furniture with outdoor safe cushions. But the cushions are already being pecked to pieces by the birds in my backyard! They have made several holes in the new cushions and it’s clear that it’s the stuffing they are after. Does anyone know how I can keep this from happening?
![Your Questions About [gardening] farmer21 Your Questions About [gardening]](http://www.gardencentresblog.com/wp-content/uploads/farmer21.jpg)
gardencentres answers:
They aren’t eating it, they are using it to build their nests. The only thing you can do is put them away until the nesting season is over. Once they have found that good stuff for their nests, they won’t leave it alone!

How do I stop my two 9 year old dogs from urinating on the patio furniture?
The dogs are males, they are Cocker mix (probably cockapoo) and they urinate on patio furniture and on the potted plants all the time.
![Your Questions About [gardening] farmer21 Your Questions About [gardening]](http://www.gardencentresblog.com/wp-content/uploads/farmer21.jpg)
gardencentres answers:
And have been doing this for 9 years, and it’s suddenly a problem now??
You just have to train them to not pee there.. Which is going to be a little tough, as it’s gone on a long time now. Try taking them out and past the patio and blocking the patio so that they can’t get to it to pee..
Edit: NO don’t rub their nose in it, this is a STUPID suggestion, this is old time training crap that doesn’t work. You only suceed in teaching the dogs that you are mean, and pee in general is bad.. You don’t want them afraid to pee, you just want them to pee in a more appropriate place.. Don’t slap their nose or rub their nose in pee.. This is not positive training, this is ABUSE!

There are a few factors that come into play, suchas what kind of soil do you have, how big of a garden do you want, what zone are you in? The farmers almanac is a great source for these questions. Happy gardening.

Without Importing or Exporting. Thanks This would be a Great Help.
![Your Questions About [gardening] farmer21 Your Questions About [gardening]](http://www.gardencentresblog.com/wp-content/uploads/farmer21.jpg)
gardencentres answers:
The Riverside Cook book (Green) is for you !! This is a great book, mostly looking at fruit and vegetables and slighly unusual things to do with them. The best things is, the book is in 12 chapters, one for each month. At the start of a chapter there is general stuff about things in season and information about them. Then there are usually a few recipes for each one. It’s going for around £6 second hand on Amazon and, if you are serious about finding out, it’s well worth it. To actually try and list the fruit and veg wouldn’t do it justice.

Check around with friends and neighbors. Most perennials need to be divided fairly regularly, I’m sure they’d be more than willing to give you divisions of theirs. Same for ornamental grasses. Maybe you can collect some seeds from their gardens too.

I don’t know if it’s complicated, but if you contact HMRC they will offer you advice for free, after all they at some time ‘want money from you’.
Mind you if the forms are anything like the self assessment forms then it will be a nightmare!

How does one get rid of ant colonies in my landscaping without hurting my daylillies?
I just recently found colonies of ants in my landscaping area where i was planning on putting daylillies. I dont know if its safe to put them there or not now. And can i safely use anything on them that wont hurt my flowers or plants. Please help!!!!
![Your Questions About [gardening] farmer21 Your Questions About [gardening]](http://www.gardencentresblog.com/wp-content/uploads/farmer21.jpg)
gardencentres answers:
This site has some good ideas also …
Http://seedsofknowledge.com/pests.html
“-When you do find the nests outside in your yard, dig a hole into the nest with a shovel and pour in an insecticidal soap (this is usually a mixture of alcohol, dish soap and water) into the nest and put back the soil. You may have to do this a few times to really get rid of the ants.”
and this part was there also …
“Jim Patch, one of our subscribers, shares on ridding the garden and yard of ants: Boil water first thing in the morning and pour it on previously identified nest areas. I found that this works at any time of day. As I suspected boiling water will kill grass and larger plants, so be cautious. This can be an advantage as well. I found pouring boiling water in the corners by raised beds to kill ants also killed the Bermuda grass that kept coming up through the corners. It is a chemical free method of weed control.”
Good luck!
